Prof. Trivedi was teaching at the Government Agriculture College in Pune. Whenever Mahatma Gandhi was in Yerawada jail Pune, Prof. Trivedi would regularly visit him. When Gandhiji was in Vardha Ashram, he invited Prof. Trivedi to stay with him. Prof. Trivedi passed away in peace at Vardha, and was honored by Gandhiji who laid his shawl on Prof. Trivedi at the time of his cremation. Prof. Trivedi followed the slogan "અતિથિ દેવો ભવ" throughout his life.

Prof. J. P. Trivedi Memorial Trust

Professor Jayshankar Pitambardas Trivedi passed away on 2 nd May 1941. His friends and well-wishers decided to form a charitable trust in his honour. 
Prof. J. P. Trivedi Memorial Trust was established on March 3, 1946 under the chairmanship of Lady Premleela V. Thackershi. 
After the formation of the trust, Sanatorium was opened on October 31, 1956 with very economical rates so as to suit every class of people. It was named as Prof. J. P. Trivedi Atithi Gruh.
Boys hostel was opened on February 19, 1961 for out of town students coming to Pune, for further studies. Rooms in the hostel were made available at very economical rates.
The hostel was named as Shri Madhukant Amulakh Hostel.
As the demand for hostel accommodation kept increasing over a time, a third floor was added to the existing structure and opened on February 7, 1981 to accommodate more students. It was named in honour of Punes devoted Acharya Shri. Dhansukhlal B. Dadawala, one of the founder trustees.
Subsequently new 5 story building was constructed with latest facilities to accommodate 132 students with comfort. New building was completed in 2012.
